Tiggers

Writers love to bounce. We enjoy hopping throughout different lifestyles to find which ones are worth keeping around and which ones are worth moving on from. Example, I was into the innate reasoning behind fetishism as according Freud a few weeks ago. That one didn’t stick for very long, but did influence one of my classroom discussion board posts. Sorry to all of those that read my post that week. Also example, Last winter I decided to pursue that tiny voice in my head that was always wanting to try acting. That one stuck. I took some acting classes at my University and noticed something peculiar…I looked forward to school and I was…happy.

Here’s the thing about writers: We always have this inner narrative monologue running. Kind of like a teleprompter, but it’s all improvised. We are trying to make sense of the world and constantly trying to put it in words. Acting took that away. I didn't realize how loud my own background noise was until I had to force it to shut up. I’ve been writing since I was 9, so this ambiguous and annoying voice has always been there, just like, reflecting on random thoughts. Do I sound like an absolute nutcase yet? Probably. Anyway, acting took this away and forced me to be present. I could no longer sit back and evaluate everything and search for that one misplaced tile’s metaphor about the meaning of life. I had to be there and I had to do something and say someone else’s words. Thank God. And yet, with all this being said, I need writing. I need to read and I need to evaluate everything. When I am not writing an annoying piece like this one, I’ll write some lyrics and set them to some badly executed power chords on my mid-priced Fender guitar. I need to write like I need to breathe. It’s like this relationship that is rocky, but you can’t give it up yet. Some days I abhor the thought of writing something down and some days I will document everything that happens—a phone call, they way someone said my name, how I felt about the way they said my name, if it was raining. The last one is usually a no because I live in the desert, but you get where I’m going.

What really frustrated me going into college was this idea that you had to pick one thing to love and then the next four years would be all about that one thing. “You can’t do it all” then I’d say, “Wanna bet?” Conclusion: Yes, you can in fact do whatever the hell you want to do. You may not be the Andy Warhol of everything you decide to do, but you can do it and you can try. I’ve always thought that I can only choose one thing and I would always have to decide between acting, writing, photography, and music. I don’t. I can do them all. If some sort of career-thingie comes from doing one then great, I’ll keep at it. If not, then great, now I’ll really keep at it! Don’t put yourself in a box, especially if even a tiny morsel of your being enjoys writing. Writers like to do it all. So, keep doing you cause who’s going to stop you? Just be sure whatever you do is morally just, for the sake of humanity.

Sunday Coffee

Full steam ahead! (Titanic reference) ((of course)). Can parenthesis be used as 'p.s.' and 'p.p.s.'? Will update. Here's my idea of what I do all too often, which is set up shop at a local (often indie) coffee shop. Sometimes it will look like NASA headquarters with an explosion of papers and hard drives and computers, but it's so cozy! Here's what I wish I wore when doing so this Sunday. Or as I now will call it W.I.W.I.W. Who needs OTD and WIW when you have imagination and the internet?!

Also, I'm going to make this a little daily inspiration post. Now some pictures from my adventures this week in coffee shops and at home. Exciting! I know. *Sarcasm*

Because coffee + sugar is the equivalent of Adderall.

My ever-depleting candle collection. From various spas and Anthropologie. Picked up the quartz rock during one of my hikes.

This is Smarty. He is Diamond's (my horse's) BFF. Look at that face!!

I volunteered at the Arabian Horse Show last weekend. I was titled "Photographer" for a day. A title which I like very much. I wish I had some ribbons of my own!

This is a picture from my front yard. Twilight is my favorite time of day because the earth is still pink, purple and blue. The birds will sing their final song during these hours before they call it a day and the rabbits will scurry home.

So that's it for today's post. Spring break is next week, so perhaps I'll go all out and film a new video(s) during that moment of grace. This post was kind of different and I'm kind of digging it. It's a more relax/chilled/cozy/homey/nostalgic feeling. I think I'll do some more of these kinds of posts. Back to the chaos!!

Keep it real my kittens. Toodles.

Happy Valentines Day!!

So I found this website called Kissing Ryan where you can use your computer camera to kiss Ryan Gosling. So being the strange creature that I did this. Enjoy.

Um yeah. So I had an exciting day. Here's a video I uploaded last week about being single on Valentine's Day, which isn't really a bad thing. Half price flowers and candy tomorrow. Holla! Watch it and share if you want...pretty please?...I'll love you forever. Xoxo

Funkytown

I've been in a funk lately. We all go through these types of emotions and moments of self-doubt. It's transient like everything else, I know, but this thought doesn't bring me comfort. I've slowly evolving my thoughts and my life to what I want to do. I do things that make me happy and hold my attention for long periods of time without causing me to become bored. I've noticed that the things that I'm using as tools of procrastination on have brought me more opportunities than the actual school work I should be doing. Don't worry Mom, I still have a good GPA. :P

All of these thoughts (I'm not going to list them as there are too many) have been percolating my mind. I've become more involved in the art community, both on the internet and in real life, than I ever have been in my life. The times when I'm still, but still working, seem like a waste. Why do I have to read this book on Frankenstien? I have more important things to do. I've been spending all of my free time curating this world I want to inhabit. Slowly, it is taking shape around me. You may not think that 2-3 new followers a week on YouTube or Twitter mean a lot, but they really do. I get excited at every. single. comment, view, reply, favorite, like, share, WHATEVER that I receive. Lately, more and more of these things have been happening. About a week ago, I hit 100 channel views on YouTube, which to me is a lot! I've had my channel for a month and a half now. Any progress is good progress, ja feel? Outside I've been busier than ever. At times I still feel like I'm banging against a brick wall, but the moments that chip that wall away make all of the banging worth it. Cheesy and awkward metaphor count for this post: FULFILLED. Today was the first day in three weeks that I've had a calm day to catch up on editing and writing for this blog and let me tell you...it feels good to be back!

A couple of days ago I stumbled upon this video featuring a speech given by Tavi Gevinson, a 17 year old writer, singer, actress, and activist extraordinaire for the arts.  I've never felt more inspired and humbled by a high school senior. She says everything that we're all thinking so perfectly and so hilariously.  Please, watch the video below.

PS. This isn't meant to be a depressing blog post. I just hope someone can relate and know that they're not alone. Feel free to message me and we can talk it out whilst comparing our favorite brands of chocolate and favorite actors.

ALSO! Here's my new video for this week. Enjoy!!

Love you all....toodles ;)

And Very Merry Christmas to You.

My straight up baller masterpiece. I'm a wrapping pro, you guyz.

Merry Christmas everyone! I am so relieved that the holidays are now upon us. December has been a whirlwind of events. I just thought I'd pop in and write a post for all of you who are experiencing troubling times during this holiday season. I am too, trust me.

Story time?! Okay.

I have been so excited during these few weeks leading up to Christmas as my grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousins are coming to Arizona for the holidays. A couple of days ago though,(a few days after my grandmother landed) she was taken very ill and admitted to the hospital. She is still staying there through today and possibly tomorrow. Christmas will definitely be different and a bit empty without her in the house and driving back and forth from the hospital. Nonetheless, I am doing my best to keep the Christmas spirit alive. . . i.e. I've been playing Bublé's Christmas album on repeat.

I have filmed and started to edit a Christmas YouTube video, but I have a feeling it's just not going to happen. I certainly don't want to upload a video that I am not happy with. Quality is better than quantity right?? I just feel as though I should update this page with my life in some sort of hope that it will resonate with at least one of you going through something similar.

Christmas is a time for family, friends, happiness, and getting slightly tipsy off of apple cider and Fireball so those awful presents (we all get them) seem chic and useful (who needs a porcelain bust planter? Really.)

I wish you all the merriest of Christmases!! Fun videos. posts and pictures will be up soon. Promise! I'm actually very excited to bring some of my ideas to life and create and be a part of this internet community on YouTube and the blogosphere. I have a solid plan down for the new year and even though I'm not one for resolutions, I'm making an exception.

Toodles.

Dew u lyke my christmas sweatur????
Psssst! Check out Twitter and Instagram for more frequent and recent updates.

Submerged in a flurry of finals.

Howdy everyone! Just thought I'd drop a line and let you all know why there will be a lack of posts until next week. It's my last week of school for this semester and I'm flooded with final assignments and exams. I have a fun video planned for next week, but I have to get all of my assignments in before I film and edit. A lot of work, time, and effort goes into the making of these videos, and at the moment, that energy needs to go towards school. Even though I enjoy writing posts and making videos so much more. I really do.

For all of you out there with finals to take, good luck! Invest in some coffee and make a good Spotify list. Next week will be holiday and makeup extravaganza posts and videos.
Toodles.

Holiday Candle City DIY!

Kittens! How are all of you? I'm absolutely chipper today because it's nearing the holidays. I count Black Friday as a holiday too. Five-dollar DVDs?! Turn up. Anywho, I made a little DIY video over on the YouTubes and I would love for you to check it out. I figured I would film a DIY instead of doing it step-by-step. Perhaps I'll do this with makeup. Hint, Hint. Wink, wink.

Be sure you subscribe and like the video...it matters :)

Boston Part 2 and YOUTUBE VIDEO!!

I returned home from Boston a few days ago and am already missing all of my friends...and the cold weather. It was almost 75 degrees in Phoenix yesterday. It's not supposed to be that hot in November. I mean, really, come on. Today is a little better because the sky is gray and a storm is looming. Here are a few picture's from my trip and *drumroll* a new YouTube intro video! Weee!

Shoes, Steve Madden; Bag, Louis Vuitton; Leaf, A tree from the earth.

Pants, See by Chloe; Coat and Shirt, not exactly sure.

Typical iPhone coffee picture. So obscure...

I have quite a few videos planned for the rest of November and December. Ideas for new videos come easily during these chilly holiday months. Yesterday I filmed a new intro video to restart the page. I have a new video to upload on Monday that I think all of you will enjoy! In the meantime, watch the one below. Be sure to switch the video into HD.

Boston in the Fall: Part 1

Boots, Steve Madden; Knee-highs, Target; Leggings, Lululemon

Hi everyone! So I’m in Boston this week visiting friends. I didn’t really have a Fall break, so I’m making my own. Arizona doesn’t have real season, so it was nice to of to a place where leaves change and sweaters are a necessity.

As you can see, leaves really amuse me. I have gone out of my way many times to step on them.

It's also nice to just walk aimlessly around the city and silently judge peoples' stoops.

I hope that all of you are enjoying these final fall days. This time of the year is my absolute favorite. Mostly because sparkles are everywhere--in clothes, makeup, the city lights (there's just more lights in general). Also, I have some really fun stuff planned. Weeeeee!

End of the year changes.

Hello again. It's been awhile hasn't it?

There are a few things we need to talk about, or rather, a few things I should tell you guys.
Despite the time and heaps of effort that I put into my other blog, this page seems to be getting more views and hits and positive feedback. To give you guys an idea of how much more...about double the daily views. It adds up.  I find this quite confusing as I had basically planned on abandoning this site. I know that most of you are linked over here from Pinterest due to my makeup suggestions and DIY posts. I've been put in a little predicament as I feel as though I'm leading a double life with these two pages. Quite honestly, keeping up the two and creating a YouTube venture...more on this later...is a lot of work, especially when the end of the Fall semester is coming up. I genuinely love doing this though, so I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

So here's my plan at this moment: I will continue to post fun, cozy, and quirky little things on here. As you can tell, I refaced the blog a bit to make it feel a bit more warm and cozy. I really would like to share a lot with you guys.

Now onto my YouTube venture. I've been planning to start a channel for a while. I've tried vlogging in the past and couldn't quite get the hang of it. Now, I'm determined to make it work and make it happen, yo. The whole channel won't be vlogs; I'll mainly do daily vlogs for traveling and events or just general things I thing would be fun and casual to share. Mostly, I plan on doing product reviews, hauls, DIY, lookbooks, and anything else I find to be happy and fun. Expect the first video to be up next week. I have a few lined up for the next month, but I'd love to hear your suggestions so feel free to contact me in any way--I'd love to talk about it.

Anyway, I'll stop chattering now.

A Tribute to Leonardo DiCaprio's Headband

Let's all take a moment and appreciate Leo's hairstyle choices. Namely, the majesticalness that is the Leoband*. That's right. I'm making it a thing now. He has sported this style since his teenage years. That's commitment.

Work that headband, Leo.

All photos via Tumblr because they're the only internet people who seem to care about the important things in life and therefore they are the best internet people. Original sources are nearly impossible to find in the deep dark hole that is 1990s Tumblr photos.

*The term "Leoband" is all mine. You're welcome, world. Also, "majesticalness" is a word now, do so with it what you will. Gold stars for everyone who uses Leoband and majesticalness in the same sentence. Okay, take care now, bye bye then.

About "Freaks and Geeks"

Whilst browsing Netflix trying to find something to fall asleep to, I decided to turn on Freaks & Geeks. I mean it couldn't be all that exciting--after all, it was cancelled after one season and was set in 1980.

I couldn't be more wrong.

I sat up for the next three hours obsessively watching one episode after the next, until I decided to call it a night at four in the morning. With a cast including the likes of James Franco, Jason Segal, Seth Rogan, Busy Phillips, and Linda Cardellini, Who wouldn't want to watch? The answer back when it aired in 1999 would be: Not too many. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the executive producer is Judd Apatow.  This show was ahead of its time. It deals with real issues masked by dark humor. It's nothing pretty to look at, even James Franco's character, Daniel Desario, is a scraggly and greasy haired punk with alluring brown eyes and mischievous smile. It's hard to have good style during that 70s-80s transition phase, though. I will admit, I have been looking for a good army jacket to buy a la Lindsey Weir.

So here I sit. I finished the series in three days. I bought Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused because that's how I feel. (Led Zeppelin is a big part of the show) I remembered seeing an article in Vanity Fair about a Freaks and Geeks reunion. Luckily, I still had the magazine and was thrilled when I discovered that Judd Apatow was the guest editor. Here's a link to the article for the curious.

I think it was the honesty that the show exhumed that allowed for such a cult following. Viewers actually feel something for the characters and the situations they are going through and you could tell that the writers cared for these characters immensely. The story lines were real and it wasn't like anything else at the time. Freaks and Geeks showcased good acting, writing, music, and every other element that a good TV show should have. Now, we are left with vapid filler programs such as Keeping up with the Kardashians and unoriginal network series. Both of which I refuse to spend my free time watching. If do have some time to spare and wish to fill it with something substantial, then go and watch this show. I promise you won't regret it.

Judd Apatow's brat pack?

Oh Leo.

I’ve mentioned before my slight obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio. The new trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street led me on a deep dark journey through too many Tumblr blogs. In all honesty, I haven’t the slightest clue where this post is going. All I know is that I found these pictures of Leo and they have some how burned themselves into my mind.

I had to Google “Leonardo DiCaprio Esquire” just to purge these images and remind myself of who I am and why I am fascinated with this man.

Lessons learned today:

  1. Don’t conduct searches on Tumblr.
  2. Color changing lenses don’t suit anyone. Ever. No exceptions.
  3. Everyone who existed in the 90s had at least one regretful fashion phase. Except the Olson twins. They always kept it pre-teen chic. If that's even a thing.
  4. I really need to start going to bed earlier. These are the kind of posts I come up with after midnight.

Color-changing lenses or not, I'm totally seeing this movie. Any of you care to join?

Finna Juice.

Part of my new Operation Health (I just named it that) was to buy a juicer. So I did just that and began to juice the entire produce section of the grocery store like a madwoman. Here are a few things I invented while making an absolute mess of my kitchen.

Hydrating Brown Sugar Body Scrub DIY

Hello again! If you're anything like me, then you are slightly obsessed with beauty products. One of my favorite body products happens to be Fresh's Brown Sugar Body Polish. I love the smell and the way it leaves my skin so soft. After I ran out, my mission was to duplicate this yummy body polish. So let's begin...

Makeup Profiles: The Great Gatsby

Bobby Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink (1); NARS Blush in Exhibit A (2); OPI Nail Laquer in Mimosas for the Mr & Mrs (3); Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Éclosion (4); Anthropologie headband (5); Make Up Forever HD Foundation (6); Bobby Brown Brow Kit (7); Diorshow Mascara in Rich Black (8); OPI Nail Laquer in Big Apple Red (9); Anthropologie hair clip (10); NARS Duo in Orgasm and South Beach (11); Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Prélude (12); Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in Black (13); Tom Ford Lip Color in Crimson Noir (14)

It's no secret that The Great Gatsby is one of my all time favorite novels. It is definitely no secret that I may have an obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio, but then again, who doesn't?

So Friday night I planted myself in a crunchy movie theater seat for a couple of hours and awed over all of the visual aesthetics in Baz Luhrmann's Gatsby. . . and Leo's beautiful face. Speaking of faces, I couldn't resist the opportunity to create a makeup profile for the languid Jordan Baker and the careless Daisy Buchanan. Although these products are on the pricey side, I can't imagine either of these women painting their faces with anything short of luxurious.

Keep it real, old sport. x

When the rain paints the desert...

Rain in Arizona has the tendency to paint the desert. It brings out the green from the brown. So I decided to pack up the camera and take my friend here out into the wild.
